Improvisations
This video includes -among others- some solo improvisations which as Manolis noted are not really played today in popular Greek clubs because of the way the entertaiment programmes are structured. He is also playing his own interpretations of famous tunes such as Zeibekiko tis Evdokias, Hathike to Feggari and Hartaeti. He combines different modes (musical scales) and techniques in order to demonstrate the potential of the instrument and the various approaches one can have on it. In between some of the solos Manolis makes comments and expresses opinions about the importance of putting soul into the playing, the value of a tune when it was first recorded, etc…
This video is the first part from the seminar that Manolis gave in London on February 2012.

I’m 17 from the U.S. and have been studying bouzouki for the past 8 years. From the preview alone i was able to pick up techniques i’ve never seen before, i cant wait to get the Full Versions of Part 1 and 2. Thank you Mr.Karantinis (if you see this) and the team who made this possible, and also to those who made this footage accessable. ☺
I think it’s great that you guys can publish such incredible learning material. Greatly appreciated from Canada.
I’m in the process of purchasing the bouzouki scales video and I have already bought last year’s seminar in 3 parts, but is there a second part to the bouzouki scales video? It’s not 100% clear from the news page what the part 2 refers to… is it from last year’s seminar?
Your feedback is greatly appreciated.
